PSDI OPTIMADE API
OPTIMADE (Open Databases Integration for Materials Design) is a standardised API specification that facilitates the interoperability of materials databases. It allows users to access and query data across multiple materials databases in a uniform manner, enabling efficient data sharing and integration. Databases that adopt OPTIMADE API expose their data using a common API, making it easier for researchers and developers to search, retrieve, and analyze materials data from diverse sources without dealing with different data formats or query languages.
In PSDI, we use the OPTIMADE API to support our Cross Data Search service and to offer programmatic access to some of our data sources.
You can find a list of all the data providers who share their datasets through an OPTIMADE endpoint in the OPTIMADE Data Providers resource theme in our What We Provide pages. If you want to find out more about how to use the OPTIMADE API in your own work, see the Related links section below.
What to do next
- All the data sources with an OPTIMADE end point can be searched using the Cross Data Search service, see Using PSDI Cross Data Search for information on how to use the service.
