Searching Chemical Availability (ChASe)
You can use the Find Chemical Product Availability search to source and compare commercially available chemicals using the Chemical Availability Search (ChASe) database. Pricing and supplier information is provided for over 250,000 unique chemicals from many UK suppliers. You can click Find Chemical Product Availability, to open the Find Chemical Product Availability search in the PSDI Cross Data Search Service in a new tab.
To perform a search of the ChASe database:
- Select the Find Chemical Product Availability tab in the PSDI Cross Data Search service.
- Enter a substance name, CAS number or other identifier, for example, InChI string, InChI key, SMILES and synonyms.
- Optional: To search only for substances in stock, click the Only in stock toggle to set this property. Click the Only in stock toggle again to turn this option off.
- Once you have entered your search query, you can click the Search button. The ChASe database is the only data source that can be searched in the Find Chemical Product Availability search.
Search and Search Results
When you click on the Search button to perform your search, the ChASe database is searched. A tick symbol next to the data source name indicates results were retrieved successfully. You can cancel the search if you want to stop and view the retrieved results by clicking the Cancel button. If the search was successful, a list of results is displayed. If an error occurred during the search, a warning message is displayed at the top of the screen. You can click the Toggle details button to view more information or close the warning message to hide it.
You can configure the number of results that are displayed per page using the per page dropdown on the left above the search results.
For each result returned by the search query, a 'result card' is displayed. The content of the result cards is determined by the fields that are returned by each data source, so not all information is available for every record. At the top right of each result card you can see from which data source the result originates.
Some data sources enable you to view more information about the data or to download the data. For example, the Crystallographic Open Database (COD) allows you to view a visualisation of the molecule. to download the data, and to open the record directly from the data source. The controls for these additional functions can be found at the top right of the result card.
The Source tab in the result card provides the contents of the result record in JSON format. The License tab displays license information for the data.
You can save individual search results to your Favourites if you are logged into the Cross Data Search service. See Saving Favourites, for more information.
